In the present study, I am not reiterating the results of these publications, but rather I build upon them to analyze Skull 88-1 as an art historian by comparing and contrasting it with parallels at ‘Ain Ghazal and elsewhere. Bonogofsky has treated the skeletal aspect of the ‘Ain Ghazal plastered skulls (Bonogofsky 2001). In particular, a thorough analysis of the plaster and manufacture of three ‘Ain Ghazal specimens was performed by Carol A. Vandiver (Kingery, Vandiver, and Prickett 1988 Kingery, Vandiver, and Noy 1992) have investigated the composition of the material. Goren (Goren and Goldberg 1991 Goren and Segal 1995), W.D. Rollefson (Rollefson 1990) has discussed the use of plaster at ‘Ain Ghazal Y. ![]() The custom of reconstructing the features of the dead with plaster in the Levantine Neolithic has been the subject of several outstanding works. The discovery was significant because Skull 88-1 offers a striking example of a funerary practice already illustrated at ‘Ain Ghazal and in several other sites in the Levant and Turkey. 6.2.1) (Simmons, Boulton, and Roetzel Butler 1990). Full excavation in 1988 revealed that the skull had a covering of plaster modeled in the form of a remarkably naturalistic face (Fig. While surveying the tell of ‘Ain Ghazal at the end of the 1987 season, members of the expedition spotted fragments of a human skull exposed in the profile of a bulldozer trench in a nearby highway construction site. Key Words: plastered skull, plastered face, funerary ritual, ancestor cult, necromancy Lastly, skull removal and plastering are considered in light of ancient Near Eastern iconography and early historical texts presenting decapitation as an abomination. Can I use face recognition to find someone's identity on Instagram?įace recognition tools (such as PimEyes), are dedicated for personal use only. You can do that by using a reverse image search engine. However, checking and making sure that indeed no one has stolen your content is also important. These are just some ways in which you can protect your photos from potential plagiarism. You can even add your copyright to an images metadata! All this can be done in image editing software such as Photoshop or PhotoScape. You also shouldn’t share your photos in their original size and always compress them. However, that is something that you decide as the author of the image. Usually, such watermarks are a little bit sheer so people can still have an idea of how the entire picture looks like. ![]() You can place your watermark on any place of the picture you wish to, for example: the center, one of its corners. Someone may notice your watermark on a picture which has been stolen and re-posted and inform you of this. How to protect your photos from plagiarismĪs a content creator, using watermarks on your photos can be helpful in the case of plagiarism. Instagram has strict regulations which protect its users' data, making any image search on the platform impossible. Any websites or apps which claim that they can do that, are scams. Performing a reverse image search on Instagram is not possible. Search engines for reverse image search on Instagram ![]() However, be aware that the best results will always be displayed at the top of the list. However, keep in mind that pasting the URL of a post from Instagram will not work! TinEye will show you all results which are identical to the submitted picture (if they of course exist), meanwhile Google Images will show you a list of visually similar images. Performing a search with them is rather simple upload or paste the URL of the photo you wish to perform a reverse image search with and wait for the results to load. Some of the most popular search engines for such purposes include Google Images and TinEye. Unfortunately, an internal image search option on Instagram does not exist, so if you’re afraid that someone is stealing your content and posting it outside of the platform, you can use a reverse image search tool to perform a search. Instagram image search could work in two ways: either by a search on Instagram by image, or a reverse image search by Instagram image. But don’t worry: finding out if someone is posting your pictures is possible. However, this also comes with some downsides, since it’s possible that someone might steal your work and try to portray it as their own without you even knowing. By using the appropriate hashtags, many people can see your work. Its users can range from MUAs to photographers or even people who run accounts for their cats!
