Instead of telling you how every last feature now works in version 6.0, let me walk you through things I know everyone will like, changes that some of you won’t (especially if you use a mix of 802.11g and 802.11n hardware), and some particular callouts for network administrators who are already turning amber in distress. However, Apple continues to make older versions of AirPort Utility available, as I explain below. The new version works only in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion and cannot configure pre-2007 802.11g Wi-Fi hardware. The firmware adds iCloud support, discussed below, and “fixes an issue with wireless performance.” But AirPort Utility 6.0 also cuts off the past. ![]() The new AirPort Utility was released simultaneously with firmware upgrades for all 802.11n Wi-Fi base stations: the AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, and AirPort Express. (I wrote an exhaustive look at the iOS app for Macworld.) The latest iteration, AirPort Utility 6.0 for Mac OS X Lion, is a distinct break from the past, picking up elements of the iOS version of the utility added in October 2011. It still retained most of the characteristics of the original, though. In 2007, when Apple released its first 802.11n base stations, the “Admin” part of the name was retired, and a new, somewhat crisper, utility appeared. #1657: A deep dive into the innovative Arc Web browserĪpple’s AirPort Utility is a hoary old beast, dating back to 1999 when it was called AirPort Admin Utility.#1658: Rapid Security Responses, NYPD and industry standard AirTag news, Apple's Q2 2023 financials. ![]()

Chandler attempted 14 hook shots last season and was 5/14 (36%), not really sure we can mention his hook shot as anything significant. ![]() What is most important, he is CHEAPER and that will allow this team to add valuable BETTER pieces to the bench! I would rather pay Chandler, Felton and Aminu 20 mil. He might be past his prime, but he is a center with exactly the same skill set as DJ and better at several crucial aspects of the game than DJ. To send you a link? Have you not seen the guy play for those 13 years? He has a hook shot, which DJ will never develop, he is much smarter on the offensive glass and the playoffs experience DJ will never have. Are we already going to close the book on DJ never winning a championship even though he's only 26? And Tyson won the championship when he was in his 30's. The GM should be in prison just out of principle for making such an unwise move. And if this team was only able to max out 2 players, which two would you choose? It's unfathomable to think that a team would give out 3 max contracts to a 1st/2nd round exit team. I personally believe this is the prudent way to go. So basically, we'll be paying a lot more money for the same type of team that got bounced in the second round.Get it? But if we can manage to get a cheaper center that can put up similar numbers, or is defensive minded, then we free up a lot of money in the near future to get in on a real max players that will be available. Now it's going to be even tougher to make the team better. So say we max out DJ and get into more financial ruin as a result. ![]() DJ wasn't the reason why we didn't make it past the second round but lack of money at other key positions was. And I think that this is a different kind of dimension and a newer dimension of the backlash against LGBTQ marketing. They're getting harassed, you know? They've had death threats on social media and really feeling very personally attacked. ![]() And also, we're seeing the targeting of some of the marketing personnel who've been involved with these campaigns - those people getting doxxed. What's really troubling me about what's happening more recently is violence directed towards, you know, in the case of Target, their employees. And I think people's right to boycott, you know - whatever political place you are on the spectrum, boycotts are a fine way of exercising your democratic and consumer rights. So companies are really worried that they're going to alienate this, you know, huge market - particularly in terms of younger consumers. What's really shifted is that boycotts now are much more active from LGBTQ consumers and their allies. So early on, national companies were very worried about religious right boycotts as really kind of affecting their bottom line. SENDER: The tradition has really been consumer boycotts. RASCOE: Was there always a backlash to any of these types of campaigns? So I think that there's this sort of reciprocal effect that as companies become more LGBTQ-friendly, then similarly we're seeing some kind of political change as well. SENDER: I mean, obviously, their bottom line is to make money - though we have seen some really significant progress, I think, in LGBTQ visibility partly through the ways in which companies have courted LGBTQ consumers. RASCOE: These companies where they're doing these campaigns - the bottom line is that they want to make money, right? They're trying to attract customers. What's really changed is that now there's almost an imperative for marketers and companies to signal during June that they are in solidarity with and supportive of LGBTQ communities and particularly really want to court LGBTQ consumers and their allies. Initially, corporations were interested in targeting gay and lesbian consumers, as they were thought of then, through things like booths at Pride events, maybe having a float or something like that, and then thinking that they could kind of fly under the radar and not get any kind of right-wing backlash in doing that. SENDER: Well, I think we've seen a development for the last - well, really, since the '90s. RASCOE: What do corporate Pride campaigns look like, and why do companies do these campaigns in the first place? Katherine Sender is a professor of media and sexuality in the communication department at Cornell University, and she joins us now. And some Bud Light consumers boycotted the beer after the brand partnered with trans actress Dylan Mulvaney in a recent campaign. Target announced that it will be removing some of its Pride Month products after receiving backlash against the items and threats against its workers. But some companies are pulling back from that effort. They have advertising campaigns, Pride-logoed products and maybe partnerships with queer influencers. June is LGBTQ Pride Month, and some businesses want in on the event and the market. |
